متن کاملDiamondoids and DNA Nanotechnologies
Diamondoids are cage-like saturated hydrocarbons consisting of fused cyclohexane rings. The Diamondoids family of compounds is one of the best candidates for molecular building blocks (MBBs) in nanotechnology to construct organic nanostructures compared to other MBBs known so far. The challenge is to find a route for self-assembly of these cage hydrocarbons and their applications in the bottom-...

Double-stranded DNA viruses package their genomes into procapsids via an ATP-driven nanomotor. This ingenious motor configuration has inspired the development of biomimetics in nanotechnology. Bacteriophage varphi29 DNA-packaging motor has been a popular tool in nanomedicine. To provide information for further motor modification, conjugation, labeling, and manufacturing, the connector protein g...
متن کاملGrouping of ferritin and gold nanoparticles conjugated to pRNA of the phage phi29 DNA-packaging motor.
The bacteriophage phi29 DNA-packaging motor, which translocates and compresses the DNA genome of the phage into its procapsid during virion assembly, involves an essential ring formed by the packaging RNA (pRNA). We attached electron-dense nanoparticles to pRNA by hybridizing a DNA oligonucleotide with a biotin or thiol modification to a 3'-extension of core pRNA, and by coupling streptavidin a...
متن کاملEfficient DNA packaging of bacteriophage PRD1 requires the unique vertex protein P6.
The assembly of bacteriophage PRD1 proceeds via formation of empty procapsids containing an internal lipid membrane, into which the linear double-stranded DNA genome is subsequently packaged. The packaging ATPase P9 and other putative packaging proteins have been shown to be located at a unique vertex of the PRD1 capsid. Here, we describe the isolation and characterization of a suppressor-sensi...
